On this very special Canada Day, we come together with our friends, families, and neighbours to celebrate our shared Canadian identity.
As we celebrate our great nation’s 150 years, Canada Day is an opportunity to be reminded of the tapestry that binds us all together as Canadians.
We celebrate our country and the people in it: a nation that has come together to build prosperous and engaged communities, living in mutual respect and co-operation.
Canada Day is an occasion for us to not only celebrate our country, but to appreciate how fortunate we are to live where we do. This is a country where innovation and creativity flourish; where diversity is celebrated and rightly identified as our source of strength; and where citizens are united by common values like democracy, freedom, compassion, and equality.
While we celebrate our nation’s 150 years, let us also renew our commitment to working together to build a better country for all Canadians. From coast to coast to coast, all Canadians deserve a real and fair chance at success.
I know today that we all will reflect on what Canada Day means for us personally; what it means when we see the flag, the symbol of our nation all around us today in glorious displays of patriotism.
The honour and the pride this day brings to each of us is overwhelming. I’d like to wish a Happy Canada Day to everyone in Northumberland-Peterborough South.
